A DECISIVE PROGRESS
The Shear- and Compacting Baler
The Shear- and Compacting Baler makes it possible for the very first time to process high-strength steel into bales. However, lighter material can also be cut and compacted into bales.
However, lighter material can also be cut and compacted into bales. Depending on the material to be processed, a choice can be made between two operating modes. To change the mode, the machine is easily converted in a short time.
// Betriebsmodus Scherpaketieren
In the Shear and Compactor Mode, the press processes a wide range of light to medium-weight ferrous and nonferrous metals. Material protruding from the charging chamber is cut and subsequently compacted into a bale by three-dimensional compression.
// Betriebsmodus Paketieren
In the Compactor Mode, the press can process highstrength steels with a strength of more than 350 MPa, for example AHSS (Advanced High Strength Steel). Due to constructional and procedural innovations, such material can be compacted into a bale without a cutting process.

The Shear- and Compacting Baler
The press for high-strength steel
Cutting advanced high-strength steel (AHSS) is not possible with conventional presses because the shearing blades do not guarantee a smooth cutting process, making the subsequent compression process impossible. Only an interaction of two hydraulic pumps, a solid cylinder and a cover plate enables cutting-free processing of high-strength steel and a smooth compression process.
// Schritt 1
Once the Shear- and Compacting Baler has been charged, the cover plate is hydraulically extended and falls into a slight inclined position due to its own weight and spherical bearings. The solid cylinder prevents the cover plate from falling into the charging chamber.
// Schritt 2
As soon as the cover plate is fully extended, two small hydraulic pumps exert pressure on it. As a result, the cover plate is forced down into the charging chamber. Thus, material is prevented from entering between the cover plate and the top of the low-density compression. The first compression is flush with the underside of the cover plate.
// Schritt 3
// Schritt 4
As soon as the first Compression moves forward to the left compression chamber, the cover plate is pushed upwards out of the charging chamber, reducing the inclined position of the cover plate. At the same time, the counterpressure increases on the working pistons of the hydraulic pumps, which are controlled by a coupled pressure relief valve and partially yield to retract when the pressure increases. Once the first compression is fully advanced, the material to be pressed is entirely inside the compression chamber without any cutting process. The material could not be caught in between the cover plate and the top of the low-density compression and is subsequently compacted into a bale by three-dimensional compression.
